Privacy Policy
What the workstation stores, why, and the control you have over it. Your pilot and aircraft records belong to your account and are never shared with other users.
1. Overview
SIGMET.si is a supplementary pilot briefing workstation. This policy explains what data the Service handles, where it is stored, and the choices you have. The short version: we store only what the workstation needs to function, we do not sell your data, and your records are visible only to your account.
2. Data we store
Account data: email address and authentication credentials (managed by our hosted backend; passwords are never stored in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
Pilot records you enter: qualifications, total time, time in type, recent landings and approaches, flight-review and medical dates, overwater experience, and personal minimums.
Aircraft records you enter: tail numbers, equipment selections, and maintenance-related dates and notes.
Flight setup inputs (route, loading, winds) are processed in your browser to produce the briefing. Signed-out records are stored locally in your browser only.
3. How your data is used
Your records are used solely to produce advisory findings inside the workstation — for example, comparing your entered currency against a planned flight, or flagging an inoperative equipment item against a route segment.
We do not use your records for advertising, do not sell or rent personal data, and do not share your records with other users.
Weather requests are made to NOAA Aviation Weather Center endpoints; these requests do not include your personal data or flight details.
4. Storage and security
Account records are stored in our hosted database with row-level security: each record is readable and writable only by the account that owns it. Connections are encrypted in transit.
Browser-local records (when signed out) never leave your device but are lost if you clear browser storage.
No system is perfectly secure. Do not store information in the Service that you could not tolerate losing or disclosing; the Service is not designed for sensitive regulated records such as medical certificates in document form.
5. Retention and your rights
Your records are retained while your account exists. You can update or correct any record at any time from within the workstation.
You may request export or deletion of your account and all associated records by contacting us. Deletion removes your stored pilot and aircraft records; it does not affect records you kept only in a browser.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights (access, portability, objection). We will honor applicable requests.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change how data is collected or used, we will update this page and the "last updated" date below. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
