Terms of Service
The rules governing use of this supplementary briefing workstation. Section 2 restates the most important point: this is an advisory tool, and the Pilot in Command retains final authority.
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using SIGMET.si ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is intended for certificated pilots, student pilots under instruction, and aviation professionals seeking a supplementary briefing aid. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
2. Advisory-only status — read carefully
SIGMET.si is a supplementary situational-awareness workstation. It is NOT an official weather briefing, NOT a navigation chart, NOT a certified aircraft performance tool, NOT a weight-and-balance approval, and NOT a substitute for any source required by regulation.
The Service never issues a GO / NO-GO clearance. Under 14 CFR § 91.3, the Pilot in Command is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of the aircraft. No finding, flag, or threshold comparison shown by the Service transfers, reduces, or shares that responsibility.
Before any flight you must obtain an official weather briefing, current NOTAMs, approved charts, and the approved flight manual and weight-and-balance records for your specific aircraft by serial number.
3. Data sources and accuracy
Weather polygons are retrieved from NOAA Aviation Weather Center feeds and may be cached up to five minutes, delayed, incomplete, or replaced by an explicitly labeled synthetic fallback when a feed fails. A valid empty feed is not a guarantee of clear weather.
Aircraft reference figures (envelopes, station arms, performance examples) are drawn from published reference material but use fictional empty weights and generic assumptions. They are not certified for any specific tail number.
Airport, runway, and fix coordinates are reference-only and must be verified against the current Chart Supplement and approved charts. Route distances, passage times, wind components, fuel figures, and hazard intersections are modeled estimates with documented limitations on the Methodology page.
Pilot qualifications, currency entries, and aircraft equipment records are self-reported and unverified. The Service does not inspect logbooks, maintenance records, or endorsements.
4. Accounts and records
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials.
Records stored without an account remain in that browser only and can be lost when browser data is cleared. Account records sync across devices but remain unverified pilot-entered information.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the Service, attempt to access other users’ records, or interfere with the platform.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: rely on the Service as your sole or primary briefing source; scrape, resell, or republish the Service’s synthesized findings as an official product; attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or disrupt the Service; or enter another person’s personal data without their consent.
6. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, AVAILABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE — INCLUDING ANY PURPOSE RELATED TO FLIGHT SAFETY.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIGMET.si AND ITS OPERATORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES — INCLUDING DAMAGES ARISING FROM FLIGHT DECISIONS, WEATHER ENCOUNTERS, OR RELIANCE ON DISPLAYED INFORMATION — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO USE OF THE SERVICE.
Aviation is inherently hazardous. You fly at your own risk, and you alone are responsible for every operational decision.
7. Changes to the Service and these terms
We may modify or discontinue features at any time, including data sources, calculations, and stored-record formats. We may update these terms; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. The current version is always available at sigmetsi.com/terms.
8. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through the project’s published contact channels. The Methodology and Help pages explain how results are produced and where their limits lie.
